In this hands-on workshop, students join artist and teacher Michelle Ohm to explore painting, drawing and embroidery techniques on fabric, creating abstract works inspired by the vibrant depictions of women’s clothing in the Norton Simon Museum’s collections. Participants learn how to translate patterns, textures and colors from historical paintings into their own fabric-based compositions, blending creativity with the tactile art of textile design. No prior experience is necessary—just a passion for color and a desire to experiment.

This class is designed for high school students.

This program is free with Museum admission (admission is free for children 18 and younger; adults will pay admission at check-in).
