Collector Without Walls: Norton Simon and His Hunt for the Best
A brilliant businessman with a keen mind and remarkable instincts, Norton Simon used his inquisitive intellect and aggressive style to pursue and purchase more than 8,000 works of art. For his Hunt Foods company, Simon adopted the advertising slogan, “Hunt for the Best.” This catchphrase also came to symbolize Simon’s zealous pursuit of impeccable artworks as he built one of the greatest art collections of the 20th century.
Norton Simon Museum Senior Curator Sara Campbell has written a history of Simon’s odyssey entitled “Collector Without Walls: Norton Simon and His Hunt for the Best.”. In it, Campbell discusses some of Simon’s greatest acquisitions and offers glimpses of his intriguing and charismatic personality.
