Virtual Middle School Arts Lab: Picasso Portraits (May 19, 3:45pm)

Examine Picasso’s use of line and color in Woman with a Book. Then create an abstract self-portrait using a blind contour drawing technique with Sharpie and color pencils. Designed for students ages 10–14.

Details:

  • Advance registration is required by an adult on behalf of the youth participating.
  • Middle School ArtsLab is a free, one-hour virtual program held on the platform WebEx. Participants will need to have the WebEx application installed on their device beforehand. It can be downloaded here.
  • A WebEx meeting link and additional instructions will be provided a week before the event. Participants will need to use a device with camera and internet access.
  • Materials will be shipped to participants who register at least two weeks in advance of the workshop.
  • Those who register late will need to gather the following materials for class:
    • Half sheet of letter size white paper (5 1/2 x 8 1/2”)
    • Pencil
    • Black Sharpie (or other marker)
    • Colored pencils (or markers)
    • Small mirror (or phone camera)
