Japan’s Love For Impressionism
Japan’s Love for Impressionism is a publication by the Bundeskunsthalle in Bonn, Germany, for a 2015/2016 exhibition focusing on masterpieces of French Impressionism from Japanese collections. In Europe, Japonisme broke fresh ground and artists like Monet and Van Gogh became passionate collectors of Japanese woodcuts. Nineteenth-century Japan experienced a complimentary interest in Western art, but especially an enthusiasm for French Impressionism.
